A Peruvian couple have divorced after a truly freaky story - with the aid of Google Maps.

According to MailOnline, the man had been researching the best way to get to a bridge in Lima, the capital of Peru.

He saw a woman with an uncanny resemblance to his wife in street view - and she was locked in a compromising embrace.

And then, looking closer still, he discovered that the woman sitting on a bench was indeed his wife - clearly enjoying the company of another man.

The man shared the photographs on social media, where his followers commented that "it's a small world" and berated the woman for not being honest with him before she was caught.

First death from Michael in NC reported after tree falls on vehicle
North Carolina authorities say a driver has died after a tree fell on his vehicle as Michael's wind and rain lashed the state. One person died after a tree fell on a auto during Tropical Storm Michael in Iredell County on October 11, 2018.

She was photographed with her lover on a bench by the city's Puente de los Suspiros de Barranco - Bridge of Sighs of the Ravine.

The couple, whose names have not been revealed, divorced as a result of the wife's affair.

The man went on to confront his wife about her infidelity following the discovery of the picture from 2013. That's because it actually was his spouse, and the man whose hair she was stroking wasn't her husband.

The photograph is one of a long line of freaky images taken for the Google Maps and Google Street View online resources.

This has inevitably resulted in some amusing and freakish moments captured on camera, including a couple having sex by a vehicle at at unknown location, an armed robbery in South Africa and half-a-dozen people in pigeon masks in Japan.
