The Kentucky Lottery is giving away hundreds of Mega Millions tickets ahead of Friday's big drawing.

The lump sum payout will be at least $309 million, Mega Millions said.

Francisco Bay Area joined an office pool and hit the winning numbers for a $543 million payoff.

There was no victor for Mega Millions' Friday jackpot, pushing Tuesday's jackpot to $654 million.

The jackpot for Mega Millions has jumped to $654 million, with a cash option of $372.6 million, after no one won in Friday night's drawing.

The next drawing is Tuesday, Oct. 16 - and there's a chance the total could inch into a Mega Millions record.

It costs $2 to play the game, but the odds of instant wealth aren't good. A victor who opted for a cash payout would receive $309 million, minus taxes. The current Powerball jackpot has ballooned to $314 million.

The largest Mega Millions jackpot topped out at $656 million in 2012, followed by $648 million a year later.
