He was taken to UPMC Mercy hospital near Mt. Lebanon, Pa., in serious condition, but his status worsened after arriving.

A crew member who won an Emmy Award died on the set of Tom Hanks' forthcoming movie about Mr. Rogers, according to reports on October 12. He may have suffered a medical emergency which caused the fall, though the cause of death is still to be determined by the medical examiner's office.

James Emswiller was on a break between scenes on Thursday when he fell over a brick wall on an apartment building balcony, falling two storeys. Earlier today, Page Six reported that Emwiller was discovered to have fallen from a balcony on the Mount Lebanon, Pennsylvania set.

"All of a sudden, all of these lights were just everywhere, and they started inching closer toward us shining into the bar, and I was like".

"There were a bunch of fire trucks, like maybe two of three ambulances, it was a large commotion, everyone was staring", said Sarah Pfabe.

Hanks, who plays Fred Rogers in the biopic about the popular children's television star, was on the set Thursday, but left after the incident. "Our thoughts and prayers are with Jim's loved ones, friends, and colleagues", the studio said.

Emswiller was a 30-year industry veteran, who had worked as a sound mixer on many high profile projects.

Emswiller won an Emmy in 2015 for outstanding sound mixing for a limited series or a movie for HBO's Bessie. Chris Cooper will also appear in the film as Rhys' character's father.

Recently, Sony Pictures released the first image of Hanks as Rogers in the film, which had previously been called You Are My Friend but is now untitled.
