Haley went on to explain that she had been witness to "true evil" during her tenure as Ambassador to the United Nations, citing examples such as Syria and South Sudan. "Two years ago President Trump was here and he made some waves with his remarks, apparently no one here could have predicted that".

Haley also quipped that the Foundation's decision to ask her to speak was to "spice things up" after "Boy Scout" Paul Ryan addressed the dinner the year prior. During her speech, Haley also made jibes about her Indian-American heritage, President Donald Trump and the current political climate in America. "As a member of the Trump Cabinet, it is a thrill to be out to dinner without being harassed". "You wanted an Indian woman, but Elizabeth Warren failed her DNA test".

"Everyone in Washington called me with advice about this speech". "It totally prepared me for being a Republican in NY".

"People always wonder if I felt different or isolated as an Indian American growing up in rural SC". "I saw him on LinkedIn looking for a job. Actually, there was a benefit", she said. Jeff Flake (R) would have attended, but he wanted a week to have the "FBI look into it". "It totally prepared me for being a Republican in NY".

Haley also joked about Clinton and how she conducted her 2016 campaign, quipping that Clinton would be going trick-or-treating "everywhere" for Halloween "except MI and Wisconsin". "It really killed at the United Nations, I've got to tell you", Haley said on Thursday night.

"In America, our political opponents are not evil", she pointed out, noting that crimes committed against political opponents in Syria and Sudan are real instances of evil.

Speaking of her current job, which she plans to leave in January, Haley noted that numerous UN member nations are often angry with the United States. "We have some serious political differences here at home".

"We are going to pick someone very quickly", Trump said.

However, her resignation was seen by many as a way for Haley, who has become a highly respected figure, to distance herself from the chaos of the Trump administration so that she can pursue higher office later on.
