Potential Replacements If Patriots Lose Sony Michel To Lengthy Injury

"We have not gotten firm word on what the injury is", Rapoport said. "I think the more we're on the field, the more we can practice, the more we can figure out where everyone fits and what we're doing a good job at in general, those things start to sort themselves out". He completed 26 of 50 passes, good for a completion percentage of 52 percent, for 333 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions and a passer rating of 69.8.

That gave Chicago (3-3) its second loss in a row after winning three straight to grab sole possession of the NFC North lead.

It took one play for Taylor Gabriel to see what the Patriots had planned to scheme him out of the Bears' game plan.

What the Bears liked from Trubisky, though, was how he switched to relying on Trey Burton (11 targets, nine catches, 129 yards, one touchdown) and stuck with Tarik Cohen (12 targets, eight catches, 69 yards, one touchdown).

With Mack slowed by an ankle injury, the Bears failed to get a sack against the Dolphins, and were noticeably a bit off all game long. His team-best 81 rushing yards on six attempts were an effective counter-punch to what Belichick threw at him.

Unfortunately, the Patriots needed big plays from the offense just to keep ahead of Chicago and make up for their early turnovers. Coach Matt Nagy was asked if, by factoring in Trubisky's contributions, he was "happy" with Sunday's effort. "Trust me. There were a lot of people that were out of rhythm". He's clearly physically capable of making game-changing plays.

They scored two plays later on a two-yard James White reception. New England's other inactives were TE Jacob Hollister (hamstring), DL's John Simon, Keionta Davis and Geneo Grissom, and OL's Marcus Cannon (concussion) and Brian Schwenke.

"My legs just got taken out from under me", Braunecker said. And he often dropped back in coverage.

"Honestly, I didn't really know what to do", Hightower said. "Obviously we didn't feel it from our team as far as just getting the overall general pressure on (Brady)". If Michel is out for any length of time, it will become the full-blown James White show, with a little Kenjon Barner mixed in. Gordon finished with 100 receiving yards even, his first 100-yard outing as a Patriot.

"You never know how a team is going to decide how to match up against you", White said. "But I just tried to stretch the ball, and I actually tried to hand it to [Gabriel], but there was no time left".

The blocked punt could've been avoided, but tight end Ben Braunecker - the Bears' punt protector on the play - was blown up by Patriots starting linebacker Dont'a Hightower, who got a clean rush at punter Pat O'Donnell.

Robinson was limited in the game with a groin injury, and so quarterback Mitchell Trubisky chose White as the target for his last-second throw for a shot to tie or win the game.
