Forsaken for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC failed to meet Activision's expectations as it relates to sales and the expansion's ability to "re-engage" with the franchise overall, the publisher said as part of its latest earnings report. "And there is still work to do to fully re-engaged the core Destiny fanbase".

"We have not yet seen the full core re-engage in Destiny, which has kind of led to the underperformance against expectations to date", Johnson went on.

"Some of our other franchises, like 'Destiny, ' are not performing as well as we'd like, and we're working to accelerate the pace of live operations innovation and improve the speed with which we release new content to keep our players engaged and to provide new opportunities for monetization", Johnson said.

During the call, Activision's President and CEO, Coddy Johnson, explained to investors that "while Forsaken is a high-quality expansion with strong engagement", it did "not achieve" sales expectations. What the new form of microtransactions may be coming to Destiny remains to be seen.

Modi govt trying to capture RBI could be catastrophic: Chidambaram
Once this is finalized, excess reserves could be transferred to the government, providing the latter with a fiscal cushion. According to the RBI annual report, surplus reserves as on June 30, 2018 were about ₹9.63-lakh crore.

Players will also have access to the original Leviathan raid and the Crucible multiplayer mode. If you're in, you're deeply engaged. To do this, Activision is also looking at new ways to engage players and earn more money through microtransactions, with the latter statement applying to all Activision franchises, not just Destiny 2: Forsaken.

Essentially, Activision Blizzard sees the path to making money from "Destiny 2" as a constant drip feed of payments from active players in the game either for cosmetic items or for the expansion packs.

The base game for Destiny 2 is now free on PC, and was free on PlayStation Plus a few months ago. "If not, we think now's the time to bring players back". Heck, Destiny 2 was pretty much the top-grossing console game of the month, beating even the mighty Fortnite.

As a game, Destiny 2 is better than ever thanks to sweeping changes that were introduced in the Forsaken expansion.
