The two buildings left rubble all over the streets and clouds of dust in the air.

At least one building collapsed in the southern French city of Marseille on Monday, local authorities reported.

Local fire services said on Twitter that some 40 firefighters were on the scene, adding that rescuers are now combing the rubble with sniffer dogs looking for people who may be trapped.

"It's a race against the clock", Denormandie said.

Fire services said two people were slightly hurt.

"These are the people we are looking for now", the minister told a press conference.

However, Wendy told the audience on her show that 'It's still not stable enough. That normal life includes regular trips to the gym and running errands.

Amateur video broadcast on BFM-TV showed clouds of dust in the street and bystanders covering their mouths with their sleeves.

Images of the two buildings before the collapse indicate one used to have five floors and the other six.

As noted, one of the collapsed buildings were in disrepair, its inhabitants were evicted.

In a tweet, the regional authority said police and firefighters were both at work at the site and urged Marseilles residents to avoid the area.

Quoted as saying by local media, Sabine Bernasconi, the local mayor of the 1st and 7th districts of Marseille, said one of the buildings was in poor condition and had been subject to an evacuation order.
