This comes as a surprise as De Jong recently spoke of his admiration for Manchester City and Barcelona, with no mention of PSG.

The news of PSG's interest is of no major concern to Ten Hag, who insists his squad - including De Jong - are exclusively focused on staying in touch with Eredivisie leaders PSV by beating PEC Zwolle on Saturday.

The 21-year-old midfielder has become one of Europe's most sought after products after starring for the Eredivisie side over the past year.

"It is nearly certain that De Jong, 21, will exchange Ajax for Paris Saint-Germain", popular tabloid De Telegraaf said.

De Jong made the move to Ajax from Willem II in 2016, where he won the Jupiter League Talent of the Season in 2016-17 for the club's reserve team Jong Ajax.

"The rumours appeared again today and I'm sure it will stay like this for a while, but I think we're handling it well".

On the ongoing speculation, De Jong added: "I don't pay attention to it". I hear the stories but I just want to finish this season well'.

"When you watch that, you get the feeling you want to go out on the pitch and play football with your friends and just enjoy yourself".

The news coming out of the Netherlands late on Thursday night will come as a big blow to Manchester City and Barcelona, both of whom had targeted the prodigious 21-year-old.

"I know this is a cliche but the players are focused on the next game".

"His vision and the quality of his passing that breaks the lines make him very valuable, especially because he also intercepts a considerable amount of balls. That's guaranteed and it's all I can say right now". "After that, he will make his own choice".
