The flu is a respiratory condition which means it affects your breathing. The Center for Disease Control and its partners choose December to remind people that even though the holiday season is here, it is not too late to get a flu vaccine.

The flu vaccine can not prevent all cases of the respiratory illness, but it appears to reduce severe outcomes - intensive care unit admissions and death - among those who are vaccinated but still become infected with the virus, say the researchers behind a newly published study.

As long as flu viruses are circulating, it's not too late to get vaccinated. High dose injectable vaccine will also be available for those ages 65 and over.

An application for bail was refused by Queensland magistrate Dennis Kinsella and Dawson was taken into custody of NSW detectives. Police will use previous interviews they had conducted with Mr Dawson since his wife's disappearance as evidence in the case.

The CDC estimates that roughly 49 million people in the US were diagnosed with the flu leading to more than 960,000 hospitalizations and at least 79,000 deaths a year ago.

Some of the symptoms of the flu include a high fever, fatigue, headache, cough, sore throat, and more. In serious cases, it can cause inflammation of the heart and brain in addition to direct injury to the lungs themselves.

"Everybody six months and older should have a flu shot", said Sarah Engstrom, Registered Nurse at the Hematite Health Clinic. In addition to getting a flu shot, IDPH recommends following the 3 C's: clean, cover, and contain. "They have to change the flu vaccine every year because the virus mutates". With more than 9,800 CVS Pharmacy locations and 1,100 walk-in MinuteClinic locations accepting most insurance plans, CVS Pharmacy has made vaccinations quick, easy and accessible for patients. "Perhaps, more importantly in some settings, is the fact that the more people who get vaccinated, the less flu spreads around", added Dr. Rehm.
