In an exciting, unexpected moment at The Game Awards, the first of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - but there's no sign of Metroid Prime 4.

Surprised? Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aime says that's the plan. Sadly, Nintendo didn't have anything else to reveal about the new character - no in game footage, no screenshots and no hints. Ultimate. With the biggest roster ever, including the return of every past character, Smash Ultimate hopes to live up to its name. But what there was, was a reveal of the first paid-for DLC for Super Smash Bros.

For the first Challenger Pack 1, it was revealed tonight that Joker, a mainstay character from the Persona series, would be making his debut.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will release on December 7, 2018. In addition to Joker as a playable character, a stage based on Persona 5 will also make its way into the game. But Nintendo isn't stopping there, with at least five more fighters on the way through DLC.
