The reveal of the retro-style game was announced at the 2018 Game Awards.

Stranger Things is set to receive a new video game adaptation based on events in the upcoming third season.

It's been over a year since Stranger Things 2 turned the Netflix series into an even bigger worldwide smash.

The forthcoming new season of Stranger Things will be accompanied by its own mobile game.

The game will also support cooperative play, and will be compatible with Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch when it comes to cross-play support. But we'll find out soon enough, fans. (No word on PlayStation 4 - at least not yet.) There's no details on how this will work, but more than likely, we'll see players take control of characters within this particular universe, solving puzzles and possibly taking on enemies, depending on who's involved.

As one of Netflix's most popular series, Stranger Things and its '80s vibes and creepy, supernatural tone are a flawless fit for games, with a new title in the works from the Duffer Brothers based on the upcoming third season.

Netflix is making the new title with the efforts of Bonus XP. In the meantime, be sure to check out the original Stranger Things 16-bit game that's now available on all mobile devices and was also developed by Bonus XP, whose remarkable work clearly nabbed them this gig.

No release date was confirmed during the show.
