Trump ignored the rumors as he left the White House, but teased reporters with an important announcement about the future of his Joint Chiefs of Staff. Kelly is a retired four-star General.

Milley would succeed Marine Gen. Joseph Dunford to be chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

USA officials say President Donald Trump will nominate the Army chief of staff, Gen. Mark Milley, as his next top military adviser.

Milley assumed duty as the chief of staff of the Army in 2015 after serving as the commander of Army Forces at Fort Bragg in North Carolina.

The officials confirmed the decision Friday on condition of anonymity because it had not been announced.

Stranger Things 3: The Game Is Creeping Onto All Platforms
It's been over a year since Stranger Things 2 turned the Netflix series into an even bigger worldwide smash. Stranger Things is set to receive a new video game adaptation based on events in the upcoming third season.

USA officials say President Donald Trump will nominate Army chief Gen. Mark Milley as his next top military adviser. The chairman is the highest-ranking military officer in the country and serves as the principal military adviser to the president.

President Donald Trump said he'll be making an announcement on Saturday concerning the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Typically, the successor to the chairman would not be selected until next year, given that Dunford is due to serve until October 1, 2019. Though Trump asked Kelly over the summer to stay on as chief of staff for two more years, the two have stopped speaking in recent days.

He also served as deputy commanding general of USA forces in Afghanistan.

His term as Joint Chiefs chairman ends October 1. He has been Army chief of staff since 2015.
