Bus Driver Helps Baby Boy Found Wandering Alone On Freeway Overpass

Irena Ivic has seen a lot during her career as a Milwaukee County Transit System driver, but she was shocked by what she witnessed about 8 a.m. December 22.

MCTS officials said just before 8 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22 a bus driver, Irena Ivic, spotted something shocking in front of her bus - a toddler wandering alone on a freeway overpass near 4th and Mitchell in Milwaukee. The baby's mother had left it alone outside after suffering a reported mental health episode.

The parents were eventually reunited with the child and no charges have been filed. Abele called her actions "humanity at its best". He was wearing just a onesie and a diaper.

The video also shows Ivic, driving her bus as normal, then suddenly stopping it, as she spots the child wandering close to the road.

Investigators will discuss the case with the media Friday morning at 10 the Barron County Sheriff's office. They said a suspect believed to be linked to the case was now in custody. "Jayme has been found!", Kroeze posted.

Ivic stopped her bus, ran across the street, and picked up the little girl.

Security video shows the boy toddling down the overpass.

"Oh my God, I'm shaking", Ivic can be heard saying when she returns to the bus with the girl. By the time firefighters and police officers arrived, the girl, who was less than a year old. had fallen asleep in Ivic's arms.

Ivic-Drobnjak's Facebook profile says she's from Prokuplje, a city in southern Serbia. "She did the right thing", Abele said.
