"I can still play, but not to a level I'm happy playing at", he said.

Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic added their tributes to the outpouring of support for Andy Murray as the Scot gears up for what could be his final professional tennis match.

"Everybody knows when Andy goes on court he gives 100%. You've just not got to have many expectations".

The 2009 victor Nadal pulled out of the Brisbane International warmup with a thigh strain, raising fears about his campaign at Melbourne Park after his 2018 season ended early with ankle surgery and an abdominal injury.

Of the many banged-up players on tour, Nadal may be the most able to empathise with Murray, having spent long periods on the sidelines with serious knee problems.

Murray is one of seven Britons opening their tournaments at Melbourne Park on Monday, with only women's number one Johanna Konta playing on Tuesday.

Another Brit handed a horrific draw, Kyle Edmund is facing an incredibly testing tie against Tomas Berdych.

The two-time Grand Slam mixed doubles champion was accused of attacking one-time friend Randall Kaplan. Magda Linette is up first for the Japanese, who lost the only previous meeting between the pair in Washington a year ago.

He married his long-time girlfriend Kim Sears at Dunblane Cathedral in 2015 and won his second Wimbledon singles title the following year.

"She has been so successful in the game".

Eat more dietary fibre to lower risk of non-communicable diseases
Adults were already recommended to aim for about 30 grams of fiber per day, and for children to have about 20 grams. So, how does one increase fiber in the diet? Similar findings were shown with increasing whole-grain intakes.

"I hope it doesn't end with an injury", Federer said. "It doesn't feel like it to me".

French Open victor Halep and US Open champion Naomi Osaka collected their first major titles a year ago, and Kerber won at Wimbledon to capture her third in a sequence of eight different women's winners in eight Slams. "It's pending", said Federer.

Federer, meanwhile, just keeps rolling on and may still be the best equipped to stop top seed and raging favourite Djokovic from capturing a third successive Grand Slam title after his Wimbledon and U.S. Open wins. Because if there's one thing the pair obviously share, it's a lion-hearted determination no matter the setback.

Murray said he made the decision back in December while struggling through a pre-season training camp.

The two-time semi-finalist also has a formidable record in Melbourne, having reached at least the quarter-finals in seven of the past eight years.

"I don't have the fairytale ending in my head saying there has to be another title somewhere, and then I have to announce it big and say, that was it, by the way, guys".

Bautista Agut is known for his baseline style, which could test Murray's hip to its limit.

The 23-year-old, who will climb into top 70 as a result, beat Monday's opponent Fritz on his way to the final. The first Grand Slam of the year kicks-off the sporting calendar and the Melbourne contest in 2019 is eagerly anticipated.

Evert, for one, likes Williams' chances despite her 16th seed, noting the tournament's quick hard courts, which will accentuate her serve (her most lethal weapon), as well as her mental freshness and improved fitness.
