Influenza activity in China lower than in last flu season

The CDC says that there is high flu activity in Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, Utah and Virginia at this point, along with New York City. Flu season typically runs until May, leaving a good chunk of time left that you could be a risk of falling ill. However, some believe that's too early for the virologists to pronounce since anything can change fast.

Most of China's provinces and regions have now entered the flu season that spans from winter 2018 to spring 2019, reporting a continued increase in influenza activity, according to Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention.

The southern U.S. has also been hit particularly hard, covering a swath of 10 states starting from SC and reaching all the way to New Mexico, Utah, and California. She added, though, that influenza is usually peaking between December and February. It also examined vaccination status from a previous season.
