As per initial reports, the intensity of the blast has damaged several buildings and many casualties and injuries are being feared.

PARIS-A powerful explosion badly damaged a bakery in central Paris on Saturday, injuring several people and smashing nearby windows after a suspected gas leak, police and AFP journalists said.

A loud explosion hit central Paris on Saturday morning on Rue de Treviso in the 9th district at around 9am local time.

Images shared on social media, purportedly from the site of the blast, showed debris strewn across the boulevard and flames coming from the base of the building.

Driver who crashed while blindfolded was participating in ‘Bird Box Challenge’
While nobody was injured, it's safe to say that driving a vehicle while blindfolded is definitely the opposite of a good idea. A teen driver attempting a new and unsafe fad inspired by a Netflix movie caused a crash earlier this week, Layton Police say.

The explosion came amid heavy security in Paris and around France for the ninth successive weekend of yellow vest protests.

Emergency services are on the scene in the 9th Arrondissement of the French capital.

French television showed emergency vehicles surrounding the area.
