Emery left Mesut Ozil out of his matchday squad for the trip to West Ham despite the playmaker returning to training following an injury.

The Gunners have taken only two points from their last five Premier League away games and Emery's decision to leave Ozil out of the squad entirely against West Ham - while including teenager Eddie Nketiah - raised eyebrows further.

As for Ozil's future, it remains to be seen how he will react to being left out again by the Spaniard, with fans undoubtedly uneasy at the situation given it appears nearly certain that Aaron Ramsey is on the way out.

"I've spoken to him about it and I know he's got a bit of loyalty towards Ireland because obviously he's played for the younger ranks so he's got that bit of loyalty to them".

The German, who has been sidelined through injury but was passed fit for Saturday's game, did not travel to the London Stadium, with Emery saying, 'the players here are better for the match today'.

Alex Iwobi shaved the post with a low shot but Arsenal failed to score for the first time in 21 Premier League matches. "We continue working with every player because they are all important, but the decision was to come with these players".

While Ozil was conspicuous by his absence, West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini opted to select Marko Arnautovic, despite the forward appearing to be keen on a January move to China.

"We'll see what happens in the next days", Pellegrini told Sky Sports. I think he's doing the right thing by taking his time and thinking about the situation but I believe, no matter which side he picks he's going to be playing for either team.

The 29-year old joined West Ham in the summer of 2017 and has gone on to make 53 appearances for the Hammers.

Mundo Deportivo also claims that Emery's style of play represents a very attractive prospect for Suarez, who has struggled to cement himself in Barcelona's starting line-up this season.
