Los Angeles Chargers defensive lineman Brandon Mebane plans to play in Sunday's playoff game against the New England Patriots - even though it means taking the field just days after the death of his 7-week-old daughter. "No matter where I am, I still think about her".

"That's pretty cool, " Brady said of the age record. And I'm sitting here just playing with my friends, throwing the football around. "We've got a heck of a challenge". These things aren't guaranteed, very tough to get to this point in the season. The reality is that's not the way the National Football League is. But are you going to bet against them playing Foxborough?

Brady is 7-0 head to head with Rivers.

To have another chance at this stage of his career to notch a playoff win against a New England team that has been the standard in the conference is an opportunity not lost on Rivers. Rivers earned his lone victory against New England during the 2008 regular season, when the Chargers were still in San Diego.

The Chargers are facing a Patriots team that is 8-0 in Gillette Stadium this season.

"It's not something you think about a whole lot", he said. He's a great leader.

On Sunday, L.A. will get its chance at postseason redemption - and a path to long-awaited Rivers glory, while the Patriots will get their chance to prove their dynasty remains alive and well.

"You know, it's been a tough year, period, but she would want me to be here doing my job", Mebane said.

Los Angeles' offense is at its best when Gordon can take the pressure off Rivers.

"They were down 14 to KC with four minutes left, down a bunch to the Steelers, " Brady said. Yet they're also about as opposite as the Pats as could be when it comes to playoff history, as the Chargers have advanced past the Divisional Round just once since 1994.
