Ratcliffe said he was surprised to read Friday's New York Times report, which quoted part of his Baker interview, and reported that after the Comey firing "law enforcement officials became so concerned by the president's behavior" that they began investigating whether Trump was working on behalf of Russian Federation.

"When he takes the interpreter's notes and wants to destroy them so no one can see what was said.it raises serious questions about the relationship between this president and Putin", the Senate's No. 2 Democrat, Dick Durbin, said on ABC's "This Week". I have a one-on-one meeting with Putin like I do with every other leader and I had many one-on-ones.

Also this weekend, the Washington Post reported that Trump "has gone to extraordinary lengths to hide details of his conversations" with Putin from members of his own administration-"including on at least one occasion taking possession of the notes of his own interpreter and instructing the linguist not to discuss what had transpired with other administration officials".

The Times article revealed that the FBI opened a counterintelligence investigation into Trump after he fired former bureau director James Comey in 2017, suspecting the president could be working on behalf of Russian Federation.

"I think it's the most insulting article I've ever had written", Trump said.

"I would, I don't care", the president told Pirro. "I mean, it's so ridiculous", he told Fox News host Jeanine Pirro, without directly denying the Post story. Yet White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders responded to the story by The New York Times by saying "This is absurd. I don't get it".

Trump himself, characteristically, took to Twitter on Saturday to discuss his firing of Comey.

"Will they join us now?"

The US president has repeatedly described the inquiry as "a witch hunt".

Suspect in death of Davis Police Officer Natalie Corona identified
That was reduced to a misdemeanor after a plea, but Limbaugh spent eight days in jail and three years on probation. They say they believe the suspect left it on the bed face up for officers to find after he took his own life.

Mr Trump said it was the "most insulting" question he had ever been asked.

"Anybody could have listened to that meeting, that meeting is up for grabs".

Investigators led by former Federal Bureau of Investigation chief Robert Mueller are trying to establish whether there was any collusion between Mr Trump's campaign team and the Russian state to help get him elected. Trump hoped that someday the U.S. "will have good relations with Russian Federation again". Cohen was sentenced to three years in prison for multiple crimes, including lying to Congress.

A Democratic congressional leader on Sunday questioned why Trump has a habit of being friendly with Putin.

Manafort, meanwhile, has admitted to sharing polling data with a Russian during the 2016 presidential race, according to a court filing inadvertently made public by his lawyers.

This alleged inquiry was eventually merged into the Mueller investigation.

Barr, who served as attorney general under President George H.W. Bush, sent an unsolicited memo to the Justice Department in June raising concerns about Mueller's investigation, and arguing that it was inappropriate for Mueller to look into whether Trump may have sought to undermine the probe.

Mueller has been expected to wrap up a report on his findings soon, but the grand jury impaneled to hear evidence has been extended beyond its original 18-month mandate, suggesting investigators have more work to do.
