The process sounds almost identical to that of the Apple Watch Series 4, which has one circular electrode on its underside and one smaller electrode on its Digital Crown. It takes less than 30 seconds to complete, after which the results are synced automatically with the Health Mate app which shows whether a heart is beating normally or not.

The move ECG is the first hybrid watch that features an electrocardiogram monitor. The Withings Move ECG features the ability to take an electrocardiogram (ECG) reading, which puts in on par with the Apple Watch Series 4 in terms of health-related features. However, it doesn't have an optical heart-rate monitor, and the electrodes don't measure heart rate outside from taking ECG measurements. That watch couldn't do a whole lot more than count steps, so clearly a lot has changed in four years.

The Move ECG is set to launch during Q2 2019, which means we may see it any time between March and the end of July.

Like most other smartwatches and trackers, the Move ECG can take regular heart rate readings as well as track your calories burned, pace, distance, workout routines and elevation. But this unassuming 3-in-1 wearable device does more than measure your blood pressure, which it displays on an LED matrix screen.

If, however, you need more serious monitoring, the Withings BPM Core will be the one you want to have with you.

To take an ECG, you keep the cuff in place and touch its stainless steel casing, which contains electrodes, with the opposite hand. The cuff also contains a digital stethoscope, which is placed on the side to listen to the heart.

For anyone concerned about their heart health, either because of family history or other risk factors, the BPM Core could be the early warning system they need.

Like Withings wearables of yesteryear, the Move ECG has an analog face but includes most of the smart technology inside that you'd expect from a modern wearable.

Like the Move ECG it has a water resistance of up to 50 metres and will muster up up to 18 months of battery life. That model, which is available to preorder now and starts shipping February 5, is a more direct successor of the Activite.

The new watch will also be tracking the user's activity like another smartwatch which includes steps based on the GPS, Sleep monitoring and activity levels. At $69.95 coming in February (pre-orders in the United States available now), the Withings Move will initially come in five color options to be later expanded to let customers select colors, cases, wristband materials, and even watch faces.
