And remember how Smith reassured fans that he was, in fact, going to be blue in the final movie?

An extended sneak peek for Disney's Aladdin found its way into the broadcast of tonight's 61st Grammy Awards and with it brought the first official look of Will Smith's blue-skinned Genie, confirming the character would look very similar to the originally animated iteration.

The minute-long spot offers brief glimpses at Aladdin (Mena Massoud), Jasmine (Naomi Scott), Jafar (Marwan Kenzari) and the other denizens of Agrabah in the Guy Ritchie-helmed musical, due out May 24.

The new trailer debuts the character of Genie, who is portrayed by Will Smith. They were forced to speak up after an Entertainment Weekly cover story in December showed a pre-CGI Smith, which prompted Twitter blowback.

Miley Cyrus, Reese Witherspoon and More Honor Dolly Parton at MusiCares Gala
Meanwhile, the "9 to 5" hitmaker was honored as MusiCares Person of the Year two days before the 61st Grammy Awards . On Friday night, Parton was awarded with the MusiCares Person of the Year .

I gotta say, it is pretty weird seeing this big blue dude with Will Smith's smiling face plastered on top. Smith posted on Instagram after the ad aired.

"You really don't know who I am?!" he asks Aladdin, just after popping out of the lamp. Ritchie, meanwhile, told the outlet that he "wanted a muscular 1970s dad" look. I think it'll stand out as unique even in the Disney world.

Aladdin opens on May 23 in Australia and May 24 in the USA and UK.
