Di Maria was clearly in ecstasy after the goal and wasted no time in taunting the fans Old Trafford with abusive gestures during the celebrations.

Paris Saint-Germain winger, Angel Di Maria, could miss the return leg of their Champions League round of 16 clash against Manchester United, if UEFA decides he breached their rules.

United must be wary that their former flop doesn't come back to haunt them on a night that means so much to the club - because di Maria will be ready to bite the hand that used to feed him.

On the pitch, the Argentine was slow off the mark.

On Tuesday, Di Maria was shoved into a fence by Ashley Young, hurting his arm in the process.

It was a feisty match at Old Trafford, which saw no fewer than nine players receive yellow cards and there was no shortage of flash points across the ninety minutes.

Collecting the ball wide left, Di Maria's perfectly-weighted centre left Mbappe with no option but to score after the Frenchman had burst past an unknowing United defence.

The end of Di Maria and Van Gaal's relationship wasn't good. Di Maria was handed the famed No. 7 jersey at the club, but the pacey wide man never really managed to live up to the lofty expectations that were placed on him upon his arrival.

In what can be deemed as one of the fixtures of the round, PSG will be hoping to fend off a spirited United outfit that looked to have shrugged off their difficulties endured under former manager Jose Mourinho. The injuries to Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard towards the end of the first half necessitated a change in formation after the interval, with Pogba drifting further forward and into a central position, alongside substitutes Alexis Sanchez and Juan Mata in playing just behind frontman Marcus Rashford.

As the PSG players celebrated on the byline, an incensed Di Maria let out his frustration by screaming "F*ck off!"
