"NO", she added in another tweet. He, tragically, passed away later in the year.

"You, husband, thank you", Cardi said to Offset.

Directly after the announcement and during the rapper's acceptance speech, Grande sent out five tweets in quick succession: "what", "f-", "trash", "bulls-", and "literal bulls-".

Ariana then tweeted, "nothing to do w [Cardi]. good for her. i promise. i'm sorry".

Despite being nominated, Ariana was not attending the event herself after she reportedly fell out with producers over which songs she could perform on the night, according to The Daily Mail. "Trust I tried and still truly wished it had worked".

With a victory for her 2018 album Invasion of Privacy, Cardi B not only becomes the first woman to win best rap album as a solo artist but also takes home her first ever Grammy win.

It seems like Grande would have been spitting regardless of who had won, because she was hoping desperately for her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller, who died in September a year ago of a drug overdose, to take out the award.

Cardi also thanked acts like Chance the Rapper, SZA, and Migos for appearing on the project and contributing to its success: "I want to thank all the artists that took their time and their verses for my album", she said.

Offset's debut album will come two months after The New York Times reported it would be released: on the rapper's 27th birthday, December 14.
