OnePlus has collaborated with European telecom carrier EE to be among the first brands to launch a 5G smartphone. The company has recently announced an appearance at MWC 2019, that happens later on this month.

OnePlus has invited members of the media and telecommunications industry to try out a demonstration of a prototype 5G smartphone on a fully functioning 5G network at Qualcomm's booth at the upcoming MWC 2019 trade show in just two weeks' time.

OnePlus isn't the only company to demo a 5G prototype phone.

The situation could get worse as a truce on tariffs is set to expire in early March. "They will meet again soon". White House senior counselor Kellyanne Conway on Monday also expressed confidence in a possible deal.

OnePlus, at Qualcomm's booth (Hall 3 Stand 3E10), invites all to connect and communicate with our community over a 5G network. No, the company isn't launching the OnePlus 7 or the OnePlus 7T. However, 5G will no doubt roll out quicker in markets such as Europe and North America than in India, and OnePlus likely want to have its devices ready for this well in advance. "Keep an eye out for the limited-edition Qualcomm x OnePlus pin badge, only available at the OnePlus stand", OnePlus told XDA Developers in a statement. The device could be a gaming-oriented phone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor and an X50 modem.

The phone will diverge from OnePlus' main family of flagship phones, which includes the OnePlus 6T, and will be one of the first previews many will get to see of a 5G phone.
