The project contains seven songs, and features Halsey on the track "Boy with Luv" (작은 것들을 위한 시), in a nod to the group's 2014 single "Boy in Luv". Just hours after its release, BTS's new music are already breaking records left and right.
BTS fans, who are called ARMY, have long awaited the boys comeback - with Twitter's "Worldwide trends" page overrun with hashtags proclaiming their triumphant return.
The 7-track "Map of the Soul: Persona" comes 8 months after "Love Yourself: Answer", the final installment of BTS' three-part "Love Yourself" series.
The title song garnered more than 16 million YouTube views in slightly more than four hours following the official release. The music video was viewed a little over 84 million times.
On April 12, following the release of the new album 'Map of the Soul: Persona,'Spotify confirmed BTS surpassed 5 billion streams. Halsey also dances alongside RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, V, Jimin, and Jungkook towards the end.
Including the main track, the album explores the stories of an inner mind, interest in the outside world and the joy of love, the agency said.
BTS will world-premiere the album live on the American TV show "Saturday Night Live" this weekend.
"Map of the Soul: Persona" has maintained the best-seller spot in Amazon's CDs & Vinyl category for 30 straight days as of Thursday.
