According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Celtics guard Marcus Smart could be sidelined for the first two rounds of the National Basketball Association playoffs due to a torn oblique on his left side. Boston would add that contact with Magic center Nikola Vucevic, who's listed at 7-foot-0, 260 pounds, midway through the third quarter of Sunday's contest is what led to Smart's injury.

Per an official statement from the Celtics, Smart is expected to miss between four and six weeks as an afternoon MRI revealed a "partial avulsion of his left oblique abdominal muscle off of his iliac crest".

Smart initially suffered his injury in the Celtics' loss to the Orlando Magic on Sunday evening.

The Celtics also lost forward Jayson Tatum in the same game to a shin contusion.

Smart, 25, has had a career season for the Celtics, after signing a four-year, $52 million contract as a restricted free agent last summer.

Will he be ready for the postseason, which is approaching this weekend? He tried to play through the injury, but went down again on the next possession, and had to be helped to the locker room.

"(I'm) not trying to rush anything", Tatum said. I try to play every game of the season but it was really bothering me.

It was an inconsequential game for the Celtics, who had already wrapped up fourth place and home court advantage in the Eastern Conference, but Brad Stevens was looking to give his regulars some game time before the playoffs.
