An ex-NFL and Notre Dame running back arrested on suspicion of child abuse now faces murder charges after his girlfriend's 5-year-old girl died.

On Wednesday, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police arrested 28-year-old Cierre Wood and his girlfriend 26-year-old Amy Taylor in connection with the death of his girlfriend's 5-year-old daughter.

Wood and Taylor were held on $5,000 bond.

The girl was found unresponsive Tuesday night, according to police, who said she had bruises on her legs, torso and abdomen when she was examined by doctors after being transported to the hospital (via KSNV). Wood and Taylor are scheduled in court Thursday morning for a hearing regarding first-degree child abuse charges, per Melissa Hudson of ABC 57.

Manafort was sentenced in March to seven-and-a-half years in prison for lobbying violations and financial crimes. The report was also presented to US government officials, raising questions if it constituted lobbying.

Wood starred at Notre Dame from 2010-2013, where he tallied 2,447 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns.

Wood was a member of the 2012 Fighting Irish team that went to the BCS National Championship Game, falling to Alabama. He was cut by the Texans in October 2013 and was signed by the New England Patriots for their practice squad two weeks later.

He most recently played in the Canadian Football League.
