With the S10e being the only exception, all models of the S10 come with an ultrasonic fingerprint reader embedded underneath their AMOLED panels. Up till now, the industry has mostly been using optical sensors that rely on light to map the ridges on a finger precisely.

The Galaxy S10 is an excellent phone, but it's not without its faults. The Huawei Mate X is not expected to become available until June, though, so the Galaxy Fold has an advantage in that regard, not to mention that the Huawei Mate X is considerably more expensive and probably won't find its way to the USA, at least not officially.

For those of you who'd like to buy the new Samsung Galaxy Fold on April 26th, Samsung just announced they'll be taking pre-order reservations for the unlocked version of the device on their website.

Discussing the update on Reddit, one Android fan said: "My fingerprint reader is instant every single time now".

Even in Russian Federation where the update is released, not all eligible devices may get the OTA update at once as the company typically rolls it out it in stages.

Another stated: "I can too confirm that it is much better now". However, the update has made it almost instantaneous and also work reliably over multiple unlocks.

The new improvement appears to be arriving for fans via a server-side update, meaning it will gradually arrive for all S10 owners. Samsung's ultrasonic in-display sensor is often slow and inaccurate, and it's attempting to address that with a new firmware patch rolling out to devices.
