War heats up as Netflix for iPhone stops supporting Apple Airplay

War heats up as Netflix for iPhone stops supporting Apple Airplay Netflix’s iOS App No Longer Works With Apple AirPlay

At a splashy, celeb-studded event two weeks ago, Apple announced "Apple TV+", its own subscription-streaming service that represents a direct rival to Netflix.

Netflix's iOS app loss of AirPlay support could be due to a broader business disagreement between the two companies - as Apple is gearing up to compete head-to-head with Netflix. As things now stand, users will still be able to stream content from an iOS device to an AirPlay-equipped TV; it just won't be from Netflix.

San Francisco: Netflix has suddenly withdrawn support for Apple's AirPlay, a feature that let people watching Netflix on their iPads and iPhones to instantly play the content on their TVs, the media reported.

Netflix has been increasingly at odds with Apple due to app store fees, complaining that Netflix was paying Apple billions for customers who signed up to their service using their iOS app while offering them very little service in return, and of course, Apple is also entering Netflix's market with their new Apple TV plans. While Netflix might have a problem detecting these devices properly, it chose to kill AirPlay support altogether. "With AirPlay support rolling out to third-party devices, there isn't a way for us to distinguish between devices (what is an Apple TV vs. what isn't) or certify these experiences".

Suspected poacher killed by an elephant before being eaten by lions
The search resumed Thursday morning and, with the help of added field rangers, what was left of his body was discovered. As for the suspected poacher's accomplices, four individuals were also arrested and they're now in police custody.

"We want to make sure our members have a great Netflix experience on any device they use", Netflix told the Verge in a statement.

Thus there is some suspicion that Netflix is retaliating against Apple, which is launching a streaming service that includes deals with many major competitors, not including Netflix.
