The tower houses corporate offices for Oklahoma City-based Devon Energy Corp. As a safety precaution, employees and passersby are asked to avoid the area. The lift reportedly hit part of the building. "Firefighters are working to access this now".

The Oklahoma City Fire department said on Twitter that the basket was secured as of 8:25 a.m., and the two window washers were safe by 8:49 a.m. "Injuries unknown at this point".

Two people, who were believed to be window washers, were on the lift when it came loose and started swinging, according to the report.

Both were examined by paramedics and refused medical treatment.
