Bentley also claims that the new Flying Spur owes only its name to its predecessor, alluding to its new chassis, suspension, W12 engine and 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. At lower speeds, the rear wheels tilt slightly in the opposite direction of the front, to effectively reduce the wheelbase and thus the turning circle of the vehicle. Finally, the Flying Spur will come standard with rear-wheel steering-the first ever Bentley to be so equipped-to improve agility in tight corners and enhance stability through high-speed sweepers.
"As with the launch of the Continental GT, the new Flying Spur is a ground-up development that pushes the boundaries of both technology and craftsmanship to deliver segment-defining levels of performance and refinement", said Adrian Hallmark, chairman and chief executive of Bentley Motors.
Compared to its predecessor, the Flying Spur gets a longer wheelbase -the front wheels move forward by 130mm - but its overall proportions are similar to the outgoing auto.

In India, Bentley now sells the Bentayga, the Mulsanne in standard and long-wheelbase forms, and the new Continental GT. The amount of torque sent to the front axle varies depending on the drive mode.
At higher speeds, meanwhile, the rear wheels move in tandem with the front wheels. Headlights are LED and resemble the units on the Continental GT coupe. The three-chamber air springs-similar to those fitted to the Continental GTs-have 60 percent more capacity, allowing for finer degrees of adjustment, and the 48-voly anti-roll system uses electric motors to twist the rollbars against the cornering loads keeping the auto flat through turns. Also, there are 17 Bentley exterior colour options to choose from. There is no news on when the carmaker will bring the new Flying Spur to India. In addition, buyers can choose from eight different wood veneers, including a new crown-cut walnut, and all can be ordered in the dual veneer specification to give the cabin an even more bespoke feel.
Inside, there's the familiar double-wing theme in the front, and the well-received rotating display with the 12.3-inch touchscreen first launched on the Continental. Various driver assistance systems are fitted to the new model as standard, including traffic assist, city assist and blind spot warning. There's panoramic glass sunroof stretching the full length of the roof as well as a 19-speaker 2,200 Watts Naim music system included for the added extravagance. Deliveries are expected to begin come early 2020.
