In order to help you get started on this epic adventure, we've put together a little Dragon Quest Builders 2 room and set recipe guide. But 2016's Dragon Quest Builders was a blast. The characters in Dragon Quest Builders 2 made it easier to play single-player, because it didn't feel as lonely as playing Minecraft by myself. But if you mix in another element into this, such as the storytelling of the Dragon Quest series, you can end up with a pretty wild result that changes everything. Explore huge islands and gather materials to craft, design, build, and defend towns alongside residents. When you accomplish something in the game, he will always be there to give you a high five or to applaud you. The builders are eliminated, and now there is a ban on creating anything. Doing things like cooking and serving food, helping with the harvest or other small things will net you some of those sweet, sweet hearts that you crave.

Once you've completed one island's "chapter", you can still return to your past creations and visit in between each major event. There's not just one island but many with different themes.

Although it has a storyline, Dragon Quest Builders 2 borrows a lot from sandbox games.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 feels like it's a game made primarily for children, but that's by no means a bad thing. Also, Dragon Quest Builders 2 features several upgrades, including the ability to construct bigger structures, travel by soaring, swimming and dashing, farming crops, first-person mode, and more. The heavy emphasis on exploration and building mixed with breezy action is a real joy, making Dragon Quest Builders 2 one of my favorite games so far this year. You can use your Gloves to pick up and move individual items, which is handy for small adjustments, but if say you need to move an entire wall then it's undoubtedly quicker the break the entire thing down and rebuild it elsewhere than to pick it up and move it piece by piece. A player can after collecting materials set up a base and attract people.

My biggest issue with the combat is pretty much the same as Rob Steinmen's was in the first Builders, in that it feels so mindless, it's forced upon you so many times, and you still have to stand right next to the enemy to hit them, meaning you're nearly always in harm's way. For one, Malroth accompanies you throughout most of the game, and his main objective is to attack enemies. Thankfully Builders 2 has fixed this problem. You are now able to level up your own character too, but this only affects your health and the weapons and armour you can build.

Apparently, a massive chunk of the audience would like to see a potential Dragon Quest IX remake come out on the Switch, although at this point nothing has been decided.

It is immediately apparent from the get-go that NPCs in Dragon Quest Builders 2 isn't as, shall we say, useless as they were in the first game.
