New Beyoncé song "Spirit" to appear on Lion King-inspired album

The singer discussed the project in a new statement, saying, "This is sonic cinema.This is a new experience of storytelling".

JD McCrary (Tyler Perry's The Paynes, Vital Signs) fills the shoes of Young Simba, a confident cub who can't wait to be king, and Shahadi Wright Joseph (Hairspray Live, Broadway's "The Lion King") brings tough cub Young Nala to life.

"We have all the original songs, but there's a song that she performed and wrote in the spirit of the production along with working with Lebo M., who's part of it with Hans Zimmer", Favreau told Fandango in June. "Authenticity and heart were important to me".
