Other notable visits: Zion Williamson and the Pelicans on January 11, and Kawhi Leonard/Paul George's Los Angeles Clippers on February 13.

Expect Leonard, who signed a free-agent contract with the Clippers less than a month after leading Toronto to its first title, to receive his championship ring that night. The team's first home game at TD Garden will take place two days later, when they take on the defending champion Toronto Raptors.

In the league's opening-night doubleheader on October 22, the defending champion Toronto Raptors will host the New Orleans Pelicans at 8 p.m. ET, while the Los Angeles Lakers will face their fellow Staples Center residents, the Los Angeles Clippers, at 10:30 p.m. ET. The next night, the Cs will have their first of 12 back-to-backs, at NY for the Knicks' home opener. December 5 - Former MVPs James Harden and Russell Westbrook play lone Toronto game with Houston on Giants of Africa night.

- The Celtics will host Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks in an Eastern Conference semifinals rematch October 30. The Warriors have the second-most with 30, the Rockets will appear 26 times, Celtics 25 times, while the Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers make 24 appearances each.

There is a reasonable chance shooting guard Klay Thompson will be in the Golden State lineup following his recovery from a torn ACL against the Raptors in the Finals. The league will be on a break with no games from February 14-19.

The absence, though not fully clear, is bound have some reference to the new helmet rule. Because now you've forced him into wearing a different type of helmet.

The champs will be busiest on Wednesdays (18 games) and Sundays (14) and though the number of back-to-back contests have been reduced by the National Basketball Association for the fifth consecutive year as a whole (from an average of 13.3 to an average of 12.4), Toronto will actually play 13, up one from 2018-19. Zion Williamson and the Pelicans will make 20 national TV appearances. Each season, the league uses those dates as showcases for some of the most exciting players and teams, and the 2019-20 campaign will be no different.

Only 33 nationally televised games in the United States - many of which are simulcast somewhere in Canada - will begin at 10:30 (all times Eastern), down from 57 last season.

Toronto has six games on ESPN and five on TNT. This will be the third consecutive season where no team gets tasked with handling one of those.

Meanwhile, the league continues to cut down on travel obligations and game loads for teams, listening to experts on rest and recovery to ensure that as many players as possible can remain as fresh as possible throughout the season and not have to resort to as many "load management" nights. Miami, Detroit, Denver and Utah all finish on April 14. The playoffs will also start one week later. New Celtics guard Kemba Walker returns to Charlotte on November 7 and Jazz guard Mike Conley is back in Memphis on November 15.
