KTVT reports Ator "was let go from his job with an Odessa trucking company Saturday morning, just hours before the shooting that left seven dead and over 20 injured".

The terrifying chain of events began when Texas state troopers tried pulling over a gold auto mid-Saturday afternoon on Interstate 20 for failing to signal a left turn, Texas Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Katherine Cesinger said. He began shooting at them with what police described as an AR-type weapon and sped away.

According to officials, the shooting started in Midland and then proceeded to Odessa, 20 miles away.

Ator was killed by law enforcement in a shootout at movie theater in Odessa.

Anderson Davis, the wounded 17-month-old girl, sustained injuries to her face and chest.

Police said the shooter was shot and killed in the parking lot of the multiplex.

"There are no definitive answers as to motive or reasons at this point", Gerke said.

Mayor Morales said: "We are hoping this is just one shooter and we have contained him".

Odessa police added: "The suspect just hijacked a United States mail carrier truck and was last seen in the area of 38th and Walnut". The gunman then fired at police, wounding two officers.

Khabib Nurmagomedov is ready to fight Conor McGregor the next time he sees him - except for inside the Octagon. It doesn't matter if someone (goes) to jail or something like this.

Police said the suspect died during an exchange of fire with law enforcement at a cinema in Odessa.

Sources close to the investigation tell the station, "They don't believe his firing was the motivation behind the deadly shooting".

Coming less than a month after a gunman killed 22 people in the Texas city of El Paso, the latest bloodshed immediately ignited calls for gun control.

"Law enforcement at that point had collectively taken efforts to surround him, and he was not going to go anywhere, and he was not going to hurt anybody else", Nodolf said.

Granados was at the end of her shift when she was shot and killed, her sister said, adding she was on the phone with Granados when she heard her scream.

The girl is in satisfactory condition at the University Medical Center in Lubbock, hospital officials said. "Luckily I got down". Seven were in critical condition, two serious, and two were treated and released. Instead of complying with the officer's instructions, the man opened fire. A similar approach has been taken in some other recent mass shootings in an effort to deny shooters notoriety.

It was the second mass shooting in Texas in four weeks.

"We've already lost far too many to gun violence-Congress must act now", she said. "The status quo in Texas is unacceptable, and action is needed", he said.

United States media, including The Washington Post and The Atlantic, recently quoted White House sources as saying Mr Trump had promised National Rifle Association (NRA) head Wayne LaPierre that he would not pressure Congress for a stringent, universal, pre-sale review of all gun buyers.
