It says Ethiopia still faces many challenges, such as ethnic rivalries and millions of refugees from neighboring countries, in addition to up to 3 million internally displaced Ethiopians.

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed attends the High Level Consultation Meetings of Heads of State and Government on the situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia January 17, 2019.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee said Ahmed was given the prize "for his efforts to achieve peace and global cooperation, and in particular for his decisive initiative to resolve the border conflict with neighbouring Eritrea". The committee acknowledged that there was still much work to be done to see democracy thrive in Ethiopia, but said Abiy had taken great strides in the right direction and they hoped the Peace Prize would help him push further democratic reform.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said in a statement that Ahmed was "one of the main reasons" he believes the "winds of hope are blowing ever stronger across Africa".

Abiy's office said in a statement that Ethiopia was "proud as a nation" for the award, calling it a "collective win for all Ethiopians".

The award consists of a gold medal, a diploma, and nine million Swedish kronor (around $912,000 or 828,000 euro).

When is Riverdale season 4 released on Netflix?
But as Archie said in the trailer, and Roberto echoed in his post, Luke Perry will always be a part of Riverdale . It ends with him saying: "Fred left Riverdale better than when he found it".

Last year, the Nobel Peace Prize went to physician Denis Mukwege and Yazidi sexual abuse survivor Nadia Murad for their efforts to end the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war. Under the Nobel Foundation's rules, nomination shortlists are not allowed to be published for 50 years.

All the Nobel prizes are presented on 10 December, the anniversary of Nobel's death, in the Swedish and Norwegian capitals. No doubt some people will think this year's prize is being awarded too early.

The 2019 prize was awarded to Austrian novelist Peter Handke, a choice that has sparked outrage because of his vocal support of Serbs during the bloody collapse of the former Yugoslavia.

The economics prize wasn't created by Nobel, but by Sweden's central bank in 1968.
