Light to moderate rainfall at most places over the north coastal districts of Odisha with isolated heavy to very heavy falls over Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur; and with heavy falls at isolated places over Jajpur district on Saturday.

The weatherman said that damage to properties and infrastructure is likely in the districts of East Midnapore, North and South 24 Parganas, Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, Nadia and Murshidabad.

As forecasted, the Severe Cyclonic Storm Bulbul has intensified into a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm.

The Very Severe Cyclonic Storm "Bulbul" (Pronounced as Bul bul) over northwest Bay of Bengal moved almost northwards with a speed of 15 kmph during past 06 hours, and lay centred at 0830 hrs IST of today, the 9 th November 2019, over northwest Bay of Bengal, near Lat.20.4°N and Long.

Light to moderate rainfall at most places over the coastal districts of Bengal with heavy to very heavy falls at a few places and extremely heavy falls (above 20 cm in 24 hours) at isolated places over North and South 24 Parganas, East Medinipur, and isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall over West Medinipur, Howrah and Hooghly on Saturday.

According to the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) and Bangladesh Meteorology Department, the suspended inland water transport in approaching of Cyclone Bulbul, after the cyclone made landfall in the world's largest mangrove forest Sundarbans and passes through the coastal areas in Khulna and West Bengal state.

In West Bengal, the authorities have already started advising people and fishermen in coastal areas not to go near beaches and venture into the sea.
