A 75-year-old Placer County resident recently died from complications of influenza, marking the first flu-related death of the 2019-2020 season. Free flu shots are also available at Sierra College and the upcoming Mountain Mandarin Festival.

The public is reminded to take all necessary personal health precautions to protect themselves and their families from the Influenza virus and other diseases by getting vaccinated.

"Children who have underlying medical conditions that make them more vulnerable to flu will be prioritised by Global Positioning System first", she said. It takes a couple of weeks after vaccination for the body to respond fully, so now is the time to get vaccinated to have the best protection as the flu season begins. "There are very few people who shouldn't get the vaccine".

According to a research study by PMR, the global flu vaccine market is projected to account for a market value of approximately $8 billion by the end of 2029. It was the second flu-related death reported in the US since the start of the 2019-20 flu season.

Schools are to cancel flu vaccinations for thousands of young children amid a national shortage of supplies.

Contrary to recent media reports, there is no outbreak of the H1N1 virus.
