Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) told reporters on Thursday that he doesn't know the identity of the whistleblower, saying that Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), the chief of the House Intelligence Committee of the impeachment inquiry, should call the person to testify.

Rep. Jim Jordan, an aggressive supporter of President Trump, was appointed to the House Intelligence Committee Friday in advance of the public impeachment hearings.

Jordan will temporarily replace Rep. Rick Crawford, (R., Ark) on the intelligence panel.

McCarthy mentioned Crawford would return to the Intelligence Committee after the impeachment proceedings are carried out.

"Jim Jordan has been on the front lines in the fight for fairness and truth".

Jordan's presence on the intelligence committee could greatly increase the drama at public hearings.

"Along with millions of Americans across the country who are frustrated with this impeachment-obsessed majority, Rick has offered to step aside for this charade", McCarthy said.

'Ghost texts' from Valentine's Day spark confusion, heartache
Thousands of mysterious Valentine's Day texts were sent to people's phones overnight on Thursday, November 7, 2019. It's not clear why this months-long delay happened.

The closed-door depositions within the impeachment inquiry had been dealt with by three panels - Intelligence, Oversight and International Relations committees. "When it's executed, Rick will rejoin the committee and resume his work to preserve our nation stable".

Jordan was also one of about two-dozen GOP lawmakers who stormed a closed-door deposition last month after blasted the Democrats for holding the impeachment inquiry in a secretive manner.

Earlier this week, Schiff announced that the first public hearings would take place on Wednesday, Nov. 13. Trump has denied any wrongdoing.

The general public section of impeachment kicks off with the primary open listening to on Wednesday.

Schiff, in a tweet on Wednesday, said they will hear from William Taylor, the top U.S. diplomat in Ukraine, and George Kent, an expert on Ukraine and Russian Federation who serves as a deputy assistant secretary at the State Department, on November 13, Xinhua reported.

Initiated by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in late September, the impeachment inquiry has been looking into the White House's alleged efforts to withhold a military aid to have Ukraine investigate Joe Biden, former U.S. Vice President and a top-tier Democratic presidential contender for the 2020 election, so as to benefit Trump's re-election campaign. "So everything is in the transcript", Trump said, while claiming that she hasn't been reading transcripts of depositions current and former administration officials in the ongoing impeachment inquiry.
