It's hardly a surprise but Drake and Ed Sheeran have been named as Spotify's most-streamed artists of the decade. With 6.5 billion streams in 2019, Post Malone was the most-streamed artist of the year.

When Spotify released its year-end streaming numbers, Post Malone took the top spot in 2019 with more than 6.5 billion global streams.

Later this week, Spotify will unveil the latest incarnation of its "Spotify Wrapped" feature, allowing users to generate a personalised breakdown of the music they listened to in 2019.

Drizzy has more than 28 billion streams to his name on the audio service. Trailing behind Drizzy, the second most streamed artist of the decade was Ed Sheeran, followed by third place victor Post Malone.

Almost 4,000 cases have been recorded on the Southern Pacific island nation, which is home to about 200,000 people. According to the Samoan government, none of the people who have contracted the disease thus far were vaccinated.

The most popular track of the decade was Sheeran's ubiquitous song "Shape of You", followed by Drake's "One Dance" featuring Kyla and WizKid.

Close on his heels was American teen sensation Billie Eilish, who last month was one of the top nominees for the upcoming Grammy Awards.

Podcast listenership at Spotify grew by 50% in 2019, the company said in a release, with more than 500,000 titles now available on the platform.

After Senorita, the list of the most-streamed songs also included: Eilish's bad guy, Malone's Sunflower, Grande's 7 rings and Old Town Road - Remix by Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus. With more than 1 billion streams, it was the year's most-streamed song.
