Issa Rae found the ideal way to hit the Oscar's with some classy shade.

Johansson is hardly the first actor to be recognized in dual acting categories in a single year, though the double nomination in that field hasn't occurred since Cate Blanchett was recognized for the 2007 films "Elizabeth: The Golden Age" and "I'm Not There".

Gerwig was expected to snag a nomination for Little Women, as was The Farewell director Lulu Wang and Hustlers director Lorne Scafaria.

All four of those films are nominated for best picture, alongside Ford V Ferrari, released in the United Kingdom as Le Mans '66, Jojo Rabbit, Little Women, Marriage Story and Parasite. So while Little Women has a whopping six Oscar nominations, there's still something that doesn't feel quite right. After reading the nominees, the masterfully shade-filled Rae added, "Congratulations to those men".

And, as ever, Twitter is not. The same issue was buzzed-about when it came to the Golden Globes earlier this month, as not one female director was nominated at that show, either.

After nearly two decades without a female directing nominee, the Academy nominated Campion for her work on The Piano.

Flybe seeking rescue deal to avoid collapse
According to reports the airline could have collapsed over the weekend which would have been devastating news. Both Flybe and the government have thus far declined to comment.

Maybe 2021 will be the year that the Academy finally joins us in the real world, where white men are not the only artists worthy of acclaim. She also became the first woman to get a nod for her debut film, Lady Bird.

Gerwig ultimately scored a nominations in the best adapted screenplay category. But to me, Greta, since she started, has made two ideal films, and I hope when she makes her next flawless movie, she gets recognized for everything, because I think she's one of the most important filmmakers of our time.

"I think everybody is angry and quite rightly so". Little Women was also nominated for best picture and individual nominations were earned by Saoirse Ronan and Florence Pugh. I don't know what the answer is, other than we're talking about it.

While Gerwig was a strong contender, she is not the only woman who was snubbed by the Academy Awards.

1917's 10 nods include best picture, best director, best original screenplay, best achievement in visual effects and best achievement in sound editing. Tom Hanks received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his work in the movie, but Heller did not receive the Best Director nomination.
