"It feels insane to be a part of this in every way", said Eilish.
Shrewdly, the duo retain their dark, off-kilter style throughout the song, while incorporating several of the film series' musical touchstones - swelling strings, discordant brass, and, best of all, it finishes with the distinctive minor 9th chord that closes out Monty Norman's original Bond theme. James Bond is the coolest film franchise ever to exist. "Their creative integrity and talent are second to none and I can not wait for audiences to hear what they've brought - a fresh new perspective whose vocals will echo for generations to come", said director Cary Joji Fukunaga.
"That I'd fallen for a lie / You were never on my side / Fool me once, fool me twice / How you dare the paradise", the "Ocean Eyes" hitmaker croons in the moody ballad's chorus. "/ Was I reckless to help?" asks Eilish in the bridge.

"Subconsciously and consciously, we've been trying to write a Bond theme for our whole lives", she told E!
Director Cary Joji Fukunaga said: "There are a chosen few who record a Bond theme. Their creative integrity and talent are second to none and I can not wait for audiences to hear what they've brought - a fresh new perspective whose vocals will echo for generations to come".

Billie Eilish is the latest in a long line of pop acts to perform a James Bond theme. It's going to be interesting to find out if that's Johnny Marr's guitar in the mix, not to mention how the song plays against the visuals of the title sequence.
As for what's in store for him this time round, the synopsis explains: "Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica".
Joining Craig are cast members Rami Malek (Safin), Lashana Lynch (Nomi), Jeffrey Wright (Felix Leiter), Christoph Waltz (Ernst Stavro Blofeld), and the return of Ben Whishaw as Q. Léa Seydoux also returns as Dr. Madeleine Swann, Bond's love interest from Spectre. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with risky new technology.
The announcement that Eilish would be singing the new James Bond theme came last month, when it was tweeted out by the film's official Twitter account.
