The woman was discharged prematurely after her results were mislabeled, per the CDC's methodology to protect patients' identities, local news station KNSD reported.

The infection was confirmed through laboratory testing on Wednesday night.

Last week, CDC announced it had begun shipping more than 200 kits to laboratories throughout the country. The Illinois Department of Public Health said it has not had any issues with the kits and it's continuing with its testing for the coronavirus.

The coronavirus patient is among a group of people under federal quarantine at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in Texas, according to a CDC statement.

So far, the CDC hasn't been invited to be part of an global joint mission to China, she said, though it stands ready to participate if asked.
