The humane society is considered essential, but it made the decision to reduce services for public safety. Until it opens again, Jackson County Animal Control will only respond to emergency calls for dog bites and injured animals.

Without the means to facilitate traditional adoptions, humane organizations have turned to social media to ask for help in finding foster homes for their furry charges-and numerous shelters have received unbelievable outpourings of support from their communities.

Animal shelters across the country also being hit hard by the pandemic.
