Saturday, the company said they are looking to fill multiple positions in stores in eight states as well as their distribution centers. And that means a new hiring push at supermarkets such as Kroger and Albertsons, pharmacies like CVS and Walgreens, convenience and discount stores like Dollar General and 7-Eleven, and retail giants like Amazon and Walmart. Another unprecedented step by the retailer is the expedition of the hiring process. The retailer also declared bonuses amounting to around $550 million for its hourly associates. Papa John's said it plans to hire 20,00 new employees. On top of the special bonus, Walmart will also accelerate the next scheduled quarterly bonus for its store, club, and supply chain associates a month early, which will add up to $180 million. Here are some of the companies looking to hire more workers.

Making 150,000 new positions available to the public, Walmart's additional hiring is a part of its plan to stimulate the economy during the impact of Covid-19. "However, this temporary adjustment is necessary to allow our store teams time to train new associates, while focusing on additional cleaning as well as stocking our fresh, affordable food and essentials", Atlanta division manager Felix Turner said. The company is also offering a $50 bonus to workers who've been laid off because of a coronavirus-related company policy change.

Amazon has seen an unanticipated boom in business now that coronavirus "shelter-in-place" orders across the nation have limited many Americans to online shopping.

Albertsons announced a temporary $2 an hour pay increases as part of an Appreciation Pay program for employees such as pickers and drivers, store, distribution center and manufacturing plant associates.

Some of the new roles are for delivery workers to help the company meet a spike in mobile orders received through its delivery app.
