A nurse at a New York City hospital who was treating patients with coronavirus has died a week after being admitted to the hospital.

"Troy Tassier, a professor at Fordham University, said there was a delay in implementing social distancing and other stringent measures to contain the coronavirus in NY, possibly allowing the virus to spread faster".

The shortage of safety gear at one Manhattan hospital is so dire that desperate nurses have resorted to wearing trash bags - and some blame the situation for the coronavirus death of a beloved colleague.

In addition to obtaining footage from inside the hospital, sources there told ABC News that it is relatively young and seemingly healthy who have been most vulnerable to the disease.

Hospitals need the equipment.

This all comes after New York Mayor Bill de Blasio's latest update on where the state stands with battling the virus.

The secretaries of the Prime Minister's department (Phil Gaetjens) and Home Affairs (Mike Pezzullo) are also on the commission. There will be exceptions for essential travel , including for overseas employment, aid work and on compassionate grounds.

The package is intended as relief for an economy spiralling into recession or worse and a nation facing a grim death toll.

"Where we are today, you will be in three weeks or four weeks or five weeks or six weeks", he said.

New York State's number of COVID-19 cases has climbed to 32,741 with 334 fatalities.

"We would use these to expand as needed", Worthy-Davis said.

"We're in a public health crisis, and the city has declared a state of emergency", said a statement distributed by Worthy-Davis. The San Francisco area began limiting travel for almost 7 million people on March 17. That message soon changed. The number of deaths in New York City increased 110 percent since Tuesday night, March 24.

A month after Mardi Gras in and around New Orleans, Louisiana now has the third-highest rate among states per capita in the U.S., according to the governor, with 65 dead, and the virus confirmed in three-quarters of the state's 64 parishes.
