Ionescu and Toppin Named 2020 Citizen Naismith Trophy Winners Apr 3 2020

OR senior Sabrina Ionescu was named the recipient of the 2020 Naismith Trophy as the most outstanding player in women's college basketball on Friday, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced. He had a breakout sophomore season for the third-ranked Flyers, averaging 20 points and 7.5 rebounds per game while shooting 63%. Ionescu was named the national player of the year by ESPN.com, the Associated Press, and USBWA. She also was the espnW and AP national player of the year. She became the first player in NCAA history to reach 2,000 career points, 1,000 assists and 1,000 rebounds.
Ionescu averaged 17.5 points, 9.1 assists and 8.6 rebounds with eight triple-doubles as a senior this season.
Already named The Associated Press women's player of the year, Oregon's Sabrina Ionescu was awarded the Naismith Trophy for the most outstanding women's basketball player. She also won the Wade Trophy.
With Toppin leading the way, Dayton went 29-2 last season out of the Atlantic 10 and was likely going to be a top seed in the NCAA Tournament. "I couldn't have been able to do this without my coaches and teammates".
Ionescu finished her career at No. 4 in NCAA women's basketball history in assists with 1,091. The Ducks advanced to at least the NCAA Tournament's Elite Eight in her first three years in Eugene, peaking with a Final Four appearance in 2019.
