Flacco started the first eight games for the Broncos, but injured his neck against Indianapolis in Week 8 and missed the rest of the season. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the team didn't announce the decision. The one-year contract is worth $1.5 million.

Flacco, who spent last season in Denver after 11 years in Baltimore, had neck surgery in early April.

Flacco has agreed to a one-year deal with the New York Jets, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported. Flacco is far from the Super Bowl MVP he was back in 2013, but he might still have enough in the tank to help the Jets in a time of need. Douglas was a key member of the Ravens' personnel department who fought for Flacco during a draft process that eventually led to Baltimore taking Flacco with the 18th-overall pick, per NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah.

Smith made a strong call and backed Ganguly to be the next chairman of the International Cricket Council ( ICC ). That will be good for the game.

Flacco said he did not plan to retire after Denver released him, and joining the Jets moves him closer to his hometown of Audubon, N.J. When he returns to health, Flacco is expected to compete for the Jets backup quarterback job behind Sam Darnold. Third-stringer Luke Falk started the next two games, but was ineffective.

Flacco, 35, has a 98-73 record in his 12 seasons, throwing for 40,067 yards with 218 touchdowns and 141 interceptions.

After the season, Flacco was optimistic he would be medically cleared and be able to continue his career.
