A new report suggests Sony's rumored early June PlayStation 5 showcase aims to avoid the same mistakes that made Xbox's notorious Series X gameplay event such a debacle.

Turning to developers and publishers, Grubb reckons both Blizzard and Riot Games are set to host digital-only events during the summer, much like those already announced by Ubisoft and EA. Furthermore, the June event is said to include a "significant" number of next-gen titles. It will be first and third party games as well.

Revealed during the recent Sony corporate strategy meeting this morning, Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida stated that fans will get to see some intriguing PS5 games soon for PlayStation's next-gen lineup. Maybe don't go in expecting sequels to God Of War and Bloodborne, then. By August, there will be a new State of Play showcase, allegedly. That has left numerous annual publisher events in the air, and the pandemic has also meddled with some of the plans Sony had on works.

And despite the lack of evidence that the console and its accompanying games exist, Sony is very confident that it'll succeed. Its unique SSD will allow for speedy loading times and larger worlds, and its graphics chip will help power visually stunning engines like the Unreal Engine 5.

"UE5, with core technologies like Niagara VFX and Chaos physics and destruction-and the newly revealed Nanite virtualized geometry and Lumen dynamic global illumination-is also targeting Xbox Series X".
