Juventus have bolstered their squad for next signing with the signing of FC Barcelona star Arthur Melo in a deal reportedly worth £72.5million.

Arthur, a Brazilian global, only joined Barca from Gremio in 2018 and was hailed as a future star for the club, with many tipping him as the long-term successor to Xavi Hernandez in central midfield.

Barcelona said they had paid 60 million euros ($67.4m) plus a potential five million euros more in bonuses for Bosnian playmaker Pjanic after earlier confirming Juventus would pay 72 million euros plus 10 million in variables for Arthur.

Sky Sports News exclusively revealed last week that the two clubs had agreed a deal for the 23-year-old Brazilian, who had repeatedly stressed he did not want to leave the Nou Camp this summer. The World Cup-winning goalkeeper has played a back-up role to the former Arsenal keeper Wojciech Szczesny but he will continue with the club until at least the end of next season.

"The player will remain with Juventus until the 2019/20 season is over", the club added on its website.

The 30-year-old helped the Turin side win three Serie A league titles, two Italian Cup, and one Italian Super Cup.

Meanwhile, Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri has expressed his desire to keep Pjanic at the club despite the plans in motion.

And head coach Quique Setien has included the player in the squad to face Atletico Madrid on Tuesday.
